Biography

Prof. Hamsini Marada is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School. She holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from ILS Law College, Pune, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Cambridge. During her time at Cambridge, she served as Journal Chief of the Cambridge University Human Rights Law Society. She also completed the Advanced Course in Investment Treaty Arbitration at the Arbitration Academy in Paris, France.

Prior to joining JGLS, Hamsini clerked at the Delhi High Court for Hon’ble Ms. Justice Mukta Gupta when she was presiding over commercial and criminal law matters. During her time at the High Court, she researched and worked on matters pertaining to intellectual property law, arbitration, criminal writ petitions, narcotics, corruption and money laundering.

Hamsini's research lies within socio-legal studies, with a particular focus on the intersection of public law, visual arts (including art and photography), emotions, and culture. She also explores these themes through her elective 'Law, Art and the Camera'. Her current research examines protest art as a site of democratic dissent and constitutional expression. As a teacher and lawyer, she is committed to expanding access to law through art in India and South Asia. Alongside her academic work, she is developing an art portfolio that reflects her personal artistic practice and broader creative interests.
