Harikartik completed their B.A. LL.B. (Hons) degree from National Law University, Delhi in 2022. Additionally, they secured the Vice Chancellor’s Medal for Best Male Student of the course They had the opportunity to be a teaching assistant in the subjects of Family Law and Constitutional Law, and throughout their time in undergraduate work, they conducted research in topics related to privacy, free speech, gender rights and family law. They completed their LL.M. from Cambridge in 2023, where they are studying courses related to international human rights law, criminal justice and human rights and legislation. Additionally, during their LLM, they wrote their dissertation on the Impact of Autonomy and Equality on Indian Family Laws.
Harikartik's specialised in Family Law, with a focus on the ways in which it intersects with constitutional law, and the methods in which it interacts with society. They helped curate the 'Critical Family Law' lecture series conducted by the Centre for Justice, Law and Society (CJLS) in Spring 2026. Their research engages with themes of gender, queer rights and the court system. They have published in journals such as Economic and Political Weekly, as well as NLIU Law Review, and online sources such as The Indian Constitutional Law and Philosophy Blog. As a Research Associate at CJLS, Harikartik has helped with research relating to the transgender rights movement in India and has helped review the various publications of the centre such as the handbook for rights for queer couples.
They strongly believe that academic literature must be freely available to students, especially those situated in the Global South.
