Biography

Himakshi Alaria is a lecturer at Jindal Global Law School, India. She completed her B.A. LL.B. from  University of Rajasthan. Thereafter, she went on to pursue her LLM in criminal justice from Queen Mary University of London. She submitted her dissertation on “THE SENTENCING COUNCILS ARE DESIDERATUM TO THE INDIAN CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM;  ADEQUATE MECHANISMS OF ESTABLISHMENT" and finished her masters with an upper merit. 

Ms Alaria was accoladed the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Scholarship for Academic Excellence, 2022-23 for pursuing higher studies at Queen Mary University of London. She has also formerly worked under several academics during her BALLBs and submitted a research project on 'Geographical Indications; A social interface, to the Centre of Intellectual Property and Research Advocacy at National Law School of India University, Bengaluru.  She strongly believes in providing justice to the marginalized and underprivileged sections of the society and to that end has also argued matters of national importance before the Rajasthan High Court about the insufficient allocation of food grains to the registered beneficiaries under the National Food Security Act, 2013 of India. She also highlighted the dysfunctional state of local and district committees under the sexual harassment of women at workplace act, (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) act of 2013. She briefly practiced before the Rajasthan High Court, session courts and tribunals in Rajasthan, before joining the Jindal Global Law School.
