Biography

Isha Bansal is an Assistant Professor at Jindal Global Law School and an Indian-qualified lawyer. She holds an LL.M. in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London, where her dissertation examined the challenges of incorporating arbitration clauses by reference in maritime arbitration. She completed her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow.

Prior to joining JGLS, Isha practised as a litigation and arbitration lawyer. As Junior Counsel, she gained experience in construction arbitration, representing the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) before arbitral tribunals, and other clients before the Supreme Court of India and the Delhi High Court.

Isha is particularly interested in the relationship between communities and the natural environment, an interest shaped by her travels through diverse landscapes and engagement with local cultures. These experiences have inspired her research on eco-art, marine conservation, sustainable tourism, and circular economy practices, examining how legal and policy frameworks can support more sustainable and culturally rooted approaches to environmental challenges. Her work on eco-art and marine conservation has been published in the international peer-reviewed journal Itinera.

At JGLS, she teaches Criminal and Evidentiary Procedure, Evidence Law, Law of Torts, Professional Ethics, and Drafting, Pleading and Conveyancing, and supervises dissertations in the LL.M. programme. She also serves as the Faculty Coordinator of the University's Dance Society (Raqs). Outside academia, she enjoys painting and visual arts, interests that continue to inform her interdisciplinary engagement with law, sustainability, and community-led environmental initiatives.
