Biography

Professor Soma Shantaram Hegdekatte is an international lawyer and academic specializing in investment treaty law, treaty negotiation and international arbitration. Prior to joining O.P. Jindal Global University, she was a Legal Consultant with the Investment Treaties and Framework Division, Ministry of Finance, Government of India, where she advised on the negotiation of bilateral investment treaties. She holds an LL.M. from Cornell Law School and an LL.M. in Comparative and International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London, and has completed her undergraduate legal education from Gujarat National Law University. She is qualified as an Advocate in India and as a Solicitor of England and Wales, and has worked with dispute teams (specializing in investment treaty arbitrations) in the UK, Hong Kong, Germany, South Korea and India.
