Utkarshinee Verma is a Lecturer at Jindal Global Law School, O.P. Jindal Global University, where she teaches and researches in the areas of gender, law, constitutionalism, and human rights. She completed her B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) from the University of Petroleum and Energy Studies (UPES), Dehradun, and subsequently obtained an LL.M. in Human Rights Law from the University of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. Her academic and research interests lie at the intersection of gender, culture, law, and society, with a particular focus on violence against women, feminist legal theory, constitutional rights, and socio-legal approaches to justice. Her postgraduate research examined the role of culture and kinship structures in perpetuating violence against women in India, including practices such as female genital mutilation (FGM), honour crimes, and bride trafficking. Prior to and alongside her teaching responsibilities, she has been involved in legal and socio-legal research projects. She served as a Research Assistant for the Sciences Po–Columbia University–Princeton University Alliance on an interdisciplinary socio-legal and political research project. She has also worked closely with senior academics and jurists in teaching and research capacities, contributing to courses in constitutional law, family law, legal interpretation, and gender studies. At Jindal Global Law School, she teaches courses including Gender and Society, Human Rights Law & Theory, Interpretation of Statutes. Her pedagogical approach combines doctrinal legal analysis with interdisciplinary perspectives drawn from history, sociology, gender studies, and human rights scholarship. Her work seeks to critically examine how law interacts with structures of power, identity, and social inequality in contemporary society.

Consultant, Transgender Inclusion Programme Supported the design and implementation of a CSR-funded, multi-state transgender inclusion initiative focused on employment, healthcare access, legal aid, and community outreach. Conducted needs assessments, developed implementation frameworks, compliance matrices, monitoring tools, and stakeholder-engagement mechanisms to support programme delivery. The project was successfully piloted across multiple states and reached more than 961 beneficiaries. Sciences Po–Columbia University–Princeton University Alliance Research Assistant Contributed to an interdisciplinary socio-legal and political research project undertaken through the Sciences Po–Columbia–Princeton Alliance. Assisted with legal and policy research, literature review, qualitative analysis, and preparation of research outputs examining contemporary governance, law, and public policy issues.
